The client wanted a complete upgrade and remodelling of their Grade II listed Georgian house to create more functional and modern living space.
WORK
A new structural glass ‘gull-wing’ extension was added to the rear of the building, joining through structural steel opening through to the living space and kitchen area. We rebuilt a stone barn with Douglas-fir roof trusses and conservation roof lights creating a linked utility area and pottery space for the client. An old greenhouse was replaced with a completely new oak-framed conservatory to comply with strict Grade II listing obligations to adjoin the new barn extension. Underfloor heating throughout and traditional flagstone flooring using lime mortar. In keeping with the Grade II listing, we restored the original window frames and refurbished existing iron-work. The result was a blend of traditional stone and timber materials with modern building design. Final stages of this exciting project included complete landscaping of the adjacent patios and garden area.
StoneWood recently returned to build a new cedar clad stable block and future projects will include additional work on an existing summer house and surrounding gardens.
